We’re starting to head into the next block of runway edits for A/W 2013, one of the most exciting times of the year! Predictions are being made and the time has come to start saving so that we can own the designs that get filtered down. Although the dream of still owning a ‘straight off the runway’ Dior or Hermes is still only a dream, we can still find affordable pieces inspired by top designers.
Here are the predictions for the up and coming trends and how you can get the in-style versions for any budget.
Sports Luxe
This is the one trend that has truly stood the test of time over the past few seasons. If you are not a fan of traditional tracksuits, do not despair as Sports Luxe is head and tails above the everyday jogging bottoms. This is chic tailoring, vibrant trainers and jazzed up hoodies. A great place to start your journey into the sports luxe world is with the Adidas originals range collection.
Adidas originals has been in the limelight for the past 5 years due to the influx of interest in retro styling. The collection encompasses the classic three strike Adidas logo, with vintage 80’s tailoring and colours. The brighter and shinier – the better, almost like shell suits, but well styled versions. This season is all about the jackets. Choosing a patterned or brightly coloured versions, such as this will blend in with summer and can be worn with jeans for a more subtle take.
If you don’t want to go all the way with this look, then why not buy Adidas shoes at Littlewoods, and use them as your starting point to build upon?
Pastels are BIG
Pastel colours are back this summer and it looks like the trend might sustain through the autumn season. The perfect colours for summer, pastel shades are one trend that the catwalks have latched onto this year. Many designers have incorporated these shades into colour blocked dresses, 3D floral tops and handbags galore – Mulberrys S/S 2013 collection was to die for.
The best way to make the most of this colour is to head for the dress rails although; there are literally hundreds out there. With wedding season upon us, not forgetting summer holidays and many barbeques, owning a couple of pastel dresses is a must. This one from Coast is a personal favourite. A great summer colour, it has to be yellow of course, the length is perfect for formal and informal occasions and it would suit many shapes and sizes.
Team this dress with killer white heels (another great trend this year) and a shrug cardigan, giving you the perfect wedding guest look. For an informal family barbeque, why not grab a pair of contrasting coloured ballet pumps and statement necklace.
All About Whites
This is the one trend mentioned here that is the least likely to last until winter, but this doesn’t mean we shouldn’t have a look now. White is a great shade for accenting our holiday tans, showing off our jewelry and keeping us cool in the sunshine. Think pretty and feminine and you will have hit the nail on the head.
White can be a difficult colour to work with, especially if you have gorgeous curves, but don’t despair as this trend sees something for everyone. The catwalks were showcasing many white suits, tailored trousers and metro sexual shirts. This is great, but not perfect for apple or pear shaped women. To get the most out of this season’s white trend, aim for white accessories instead; there are thousands to choose from.
This satchel is a must for summer. Imagine music festivals, denim shorts, boots, and this satchel and you will have an idea of what to aim for. This is a relaxed day bag, which let’s face it, we all need. However, if you do want to take this from day to night, then it is small enough to get away with it. Team with a floral dress and espadrilles for a relaxed holiday look during the day and a plain tank top with maxi skirt for boho chic evenings.
